Create Your Identity on Public Post

Public Post is a new community, created by the founders of Aidpage and Idilogic, a software company that produces Grant Gate and Federal Money Retriever. Public Post is akin to blogs in that you may blog without much interaction from others, or you may interact if you choose. The platform is social in nature, and very easy to grasp, with built in tools and ability to submit your graphics and enter your other websites, links, etc.

The key thing, in my opinion, is to comment on public post regarding issues that concern you or others. For instance, the energy crisis, the lack of an energy infrastructure in this country, political candidates, music, television, writing, science, psychology, business, war, poverty - anything that strikes you as interesting or important.

It is not a place to seek advise per say, because that's what Aidpage is for. No, Public Post is a place to share views, write or publish your stories, comment on the state of affairs, and have an audience from the members and readers of your space. It is totally free, and totally easy. There are only about ten active members so far- that's how new it is. Their other blog community Aidpage dot com has about 35,000 members worldwide.

If you are interested in saying something in Public Post, this site is for you. I really like it much better than, say, myspace, because it offers ease of use, and many other features that do not take forever to load. I enjoy logging my links of interest too. Please check it out and consider becoming a member.

Oh, one other thing, if you are in another country, I would really love it if you could write about your country, your social dynamic, or geographic features. Anything that will enlighten people from other places about you and your unique societies. Anyway, hope you will visit and decide to stay. Thanks. I look forward to meeting you and learning about you and your cultures on Public Post!

Website Design, Readability, Stickiness

In the effort to learn about website design and business strategy for web marketing, I ran across this informative site (click the title link). I thought it would be beneficial for this audience because it offers such a wide range of great information, such things as how to write effective copy, serif size and readability, stickiness, graphic protocol to speak to the widest audience, and so forth. And, did you know that some browsers won't open if the font is inappropriate or too small? I didn't.

Loving art, I tend to get over dramatic with images. I really am not concerned about graphic usability on this blog. Perhaps I should be concerned when using it on blogspot, and certainly on my future business website. And, not only do I want readers to gain something, I want them to first find the site, and enable it to open correctly when they do, even if it's from their Blackberry.

Anyway, this particular site (A-K Strategic Info pages) is outstanding. Very necessary reading...

At Last...the Cheque Arrived

The Government Stimulus Cheque Arrived Via Snail Mail

Although it was promised to arrive sooner than later, our household finally received the government stimulus cheque in the mail yesterday. I can't for the life of me understand why it came as snail mail. We always use direct deposit for the tax returns, and the government was supposed to use direct deposit with this money as well. Alas, this morning a trip to the bank...

I appreciate having the extra cash, especially since my spouse has recently come home after nine days in the hospital. He had the flu and pneumonia. And he is on a short time (paid) leave from work until he re-coops enough to actually do the job. Anyway, we have a good use for some of the cash. He's enrolling in an online degree program that he's been wanting to do for a long time. Each module is paid for as you go, and the extra cash will get him enrolled, receive his first unit, buy an additional module, and his text books. So, that's what we are using this cash for. I am happy with that. The rest will go into savings, for a rainy day.

So, that's what we're doing with the extra money. :)

The Art of the Start

Make Meaning

Entrepreneurs ~ V ~ Venture Capital

It's been a while since I have posted. Changes have happened and I decided to fore go the so-called free mall. Instead, I have been thinking about a real business, with real profitability. The idea is a fairly common venture with an uncommon twist. Thinking of creating this business has led me down the pathway of locating resources to launch, grow, and manage the venture.

I read as much about entrepreneurship and funding as I can, and frequent Entrepreneur.com often, as well as StartupNation.com, and Venture Capital blogs. I found the following article on one such blog. This is an article about financing as well as The Funding Universe, a new (two years) resources site for businesses.

Of course you can simply go to the Wall Street Journal to read the article, and I could have provided the link, but wanted you, the reader here, to have something at your fingertips to use. Hope it helps you in your business or business plans for future reference.

Web Sites Help Bring
Together Entrepreneurs and Investors

By Daniel Hausmann of Venturewire

Nate Alder believed clothing insulation could be warmer and more efficient, so he and a few partners set out earlier this year to reinvent winter-jacket lining. Unfortunately, prospective angel and venture-capital investors didn't warm up to the idea on first look in the spring. The second time around in the fall Mr. Alder and his team walked away with $375,000 in angel investor backing. The difference, according to Mr. Alder: his start-up, Argon Technologies Inc. (www.argongear.com), went through Funding Universe, a Web site (www.fundinguniverse.com) designed to connect entrepreneurs with investors. The site can help companies tweak business plans and hosts in-person "speed pitching" -- a take on speed dating where investors are paired with entrepreneurs.

"Angels said at the speed-pitching that our pitch was so much better than before," Mr. Alder said, adding he walked away from the October event with 10 to 12 offers. "Face-to-face made the difference; it raises your chances significantly."

As the venture world has recovered from the tech bubble bust at the turn of the century, a number of sites have popped up offering advice and the ability to connect entrepreneurs with investors. These businesses take things beyond sites that simply offer message boards or rating services like the much publicized The Funded, which lets anonymous people rate VCs.

Funding Universe and others like it boast services that range from e-mailed distribution of pitches to networking conferences that mirror speed dating events. The programs, while not targeted at experienced venture capitalists, are specifically useful for business owners and angel investors lacking a robust rolodex.

"The angel world is very inefficient," said Brock Blake, chief executive of Funding Universe. "Angels don't walk around with a sign on their back that says 'Angel Investor.' "

Mr. Blake launched Funding Universe, his first start-up, two years ago after graduating from Brigham Young University. On his own, he raised a few hundred thousand dollars in angel backing in the months after the site debuted to help it grow.

On Funding Universe, entrepreneurs can post their business plans for free. The company then helps businesses fix pitches and rates business plans, posts video pitches, and introduces companies to investors with comparable portfolios. The services after the free posting come with a charge; a subscription can range from $20 to $50 per month depending on services. In its network, the company has 718 investors and over 21,000 entrepreneurs, according to Mr. Blake.

One of the strong components of the site, according to investors and start-ups, is the face time provided by the speed-pitching events. Mr. Blake lines up 30 to 50 investors in a room, and about 10 start-ups go table-to-table delivering seven-minute pitches. The company has six Utah-based events lined up for 2008 and is looking to book more across the country.

Other sites offer varying levels of help similar to Funding Universe. Plan Heaven allows companies to post pitch videos that are then distributed to a network of investors. The service is free but the site does not track the results of its users. Another site, Go4Funding, lets entrepreneurs and investors post their needs and contact information, ala Craig List. The site charges consultants, lawyers, accountants and others $100-per-month to advertise on the site.

Another site, Go BIG Media LLC's GoBIGNetwork.com, essentially works as an online classified service for the start-up community. Users can post ads to invest, get invested and find employees, and also find advice through blogs and forums. Ad posters pay $59 per month, per ad; people looking to contact posters pay $39 per month, and vendors, such as loan providers, pay Go BIG $10 per lead to find companies in need.

Of the 100,000 start-ups in the system, 10,000 are actively fund-raising, Go BIG Founder Wil Schroter said. Of that number, 82% will get contacted, and some will get as many as three responses. However, Mr. Schroter said his company doesn't proactively track how many of those responses results in a check being cut. Often those responses are from intermediaries of investors, such as capital brokers, Mr. Schroter said.

Rich Sloan and his brother Jeff, both veteran entrepreneurs, offer tips through podcasts, a nationally syndicated radio show and their blogs on StartupNation.com. The site also has subscription services for business plan tracking, patent and corporate paperwork. Mr. Sloan said he has about 130,000 users.

While many of these Web sites have popped up post-bubble, the services hark back to the late 1990s when business plans were plentiful. At the time, Joe Rubin, director of FundingPost.com, was an entrepreneur and Web site designer who calls himself not "one of the lucky people to cash out in the dot-com boom." Mr. Rubin saw a need for this in the marketplace back then for a site to assist entrepreneurs. Unfortunately for Mr. Rubin, he launched his site in 2000 just as things were going haywire for dot-coms. He stuck it out, seeing a lot of investors with money on the sidelines.

"We wanted to make something that was easy and low pressure for them," Mr. Rubin said.

Funding Post offers similar services as Funding Universe, including pitching events and introductions to investors. His company charges $75 for admittance to the events and $100 for site subscriptions; some packages can run up to $2,000 depending on services needed. About 100 business summaries have been submitted to Funding Post in the past 30 days, though he declined to discuss the company's income.

Gideon Naim, chief financial officer with RFID-tracker company CenTrak Inc., went through several Web sites, including Funding Post, when his company was founded in 2003. He attended one of Funding Post’s pitch events near the company's home base in Newtown, Pa. "We were successful in closing angel rounds not many months after," Mr. Naim said. His company has raised under $2 million to date without going to venture capitalists. The company plans to go that route in the third quarter of 2008.

Venture capitalists say, however, if entrepreneurs want to get in the door with their firms, they'd better bring a trusted friend. John Taylor, the vice president of research for the National Venture Capital Association, said he hasn't encountered a success story in the venture capital industry from this method. David Aronoff, general partner with IDG Ventures Boston, said over 95% of his firm's deals come from insiders. Of the 4,500 to 5,000 deal pitches his firm sees annually, they'll write checks for 8 to 10.

"Venture capitalists are not generally going to be cruising Web sites looking for the next thing," Mr. Taylor said.

Okapi Venture Capital Managing Director Marc Averitt said most of his deals come from trusted sources such as lawyers, accountants, and colleagues in the industry. Occasionally he'll do a deal off the street but said he is less inclined to do deals that come through brokers who charge entrepreneurs a fee.

"There are better deals that don't have that baggage," Mr. Averitt said.

But for individual and angel investors, the screening process some of these sites offer is time saved. Brigham Tomco of angel investor Meyer Ventures, a family office based in New York, served as a consultant for Funding Universe for a time. He's also attended their speed-pitching events and has not invested in a lead from there yet. He said the companies did not fit for one reason or another. Despite that he said he'd continue to look at leads because of their quality and because of Mr. Blake's screening process.

"The quality of their presentations is as good or better than what we usually see," Mr. Tomco said.

About This Blog, Real Deals

Some may know, but I have a new shopping site called Big Crumbs. You get shopping deals, earn cash back from shopping, and receive cash from referring others. It's easy, fun, free to use, and has no requirements or quotas.

I started this blog was to assist others (in whatever venture). For instance, I have posted links to resources that will absolutely help you in your online business. I talked to someone a minute ago who is having a hard time with all the passwords, and places online he has to go. I can relate to that. I use a tool called RoboForm, a password manager that actually signs you in a secure way, protects your computer, and makes it easy to get around. If you look at my links you will see RoboForm in there, click it and follow the prompts. It is a FREE tool, but you can purchase it as well. I used it for a month or so before deciding to buy it. If you buys it it's a one time fee. If you want it for free, go to the site and find how to do that. But, if it says ten locations for free, then only use nine because when you go to ten, it will start asking if you want to buy it. Keep it free, keep it simple.

Also, I realize a lot of people online are really, really savvy. I am making no claims to that - just someone who is learning and offering others what I have discovered. There's one blog I read that is all about the latest tech tools for free, and I have placed it in my links as well. See, if I find a website I feel is helpful, I'll place it there to assist you in your online experiences as well. But, I find most site tell you about stuff and leave you to figure them out with out explanations or clues if they are something you want or need. I am a work in progress. And I figure I will really get great in the long haul. If there's something you want to know about, tell me. Okay? :)

Please take the time to visit the Big Crumbs visual button at the top of my profile, or simply click the title link for this post.

Have a blessed day!

Aidpage and Public Post

Aidpage and Public Post

Aidpage dot com is a people network, and many people there are in a real quandary–a pickle, tight spot, crisis, a hard place. Originally I went seeking funding to start a business and naively thought it was about grant seeking and grant giving, along the lines of www.microgiving.com which I later learned about on Aidpage. The administrators simple rules: no SPAM, porn, offensive or threatening things. It's a nice community with a lot of resourceful and kind people.

Lately I've learned they are at it again! They've created a community post site which has just opened for entries. There you may discuss whatever you want. If all you want to do is write, that's okay. If you want to interact with others, you can inside the system without giving away your email address. Have private discussions, start a group, enter as many pages as you like, and make commentaries. The community is brand new. You can be one of the first to join. :)

I am thrilled about the new blog interactive called PublicPost. Please join me by clicking the link below. Hope to see you soon! Please join me at the new Public Post: www.publicpost.com

Small Business Government Grants

Recently I posted a resource for readers wishing to receive grant money to start an actual business. I talked to a friend about this and tried to explain the fact that in this day and age, the US Federal Government does not give grants to start a business.

If you click on the title link you can go directly to the SBA site. Read it and weep if you wish, or remember, if you are a small business already, for a low fee you can purchase the most amazing program(s) out there: The Federal Money Retriever or the Grant Gate, created and delivered for your grant writing effectiveness. If you are an individual, you may download the program for free.

Here's what I found verbatim from the SBA website regarding business grants, and I quote:

"Grants

SBA Program Office

Please Note that the U.S. Small Business Administration does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, though it does offer a wide variety of loan programs. While the SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance
organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments."

~ SBA

So What Does This Say?
  • No Grants for starting a business
  • Loans are available
  • Locate a grant through a government funded agency

What does this mean to you?
  • You have to locate the agencies who provide grants
  • Local government programs are in the grant business
  • The Federal Government gives to the support of research and development
How do you locate the agencies that provide grants for starting or expanding a business? That's the paramount question! That's why there are so many so-called "consultants" making a fortune selling grant finding programs, as well as useless hardcopy & materials to people wanting to start a business. And that's why the Idilogic website is so important.

Enter Idilogic (Grant Gate and Federal Money Retriever Programs are their products)

The people who created these programs have invented a way to qualify, locate, write and actually apply for grants. If you are an existing business, for a nominal fee, you may purchase their program. If you think it's expensive, then I challenge you to find anything comparable which locates and writes the application, saves the application, and helps you continue to submit to multiple agencies, all from one easy to use program.

FYI: I am not an affiliate of Idilogic; I make no money from any products you may purchase from Idilogic. And, regarding grants, I am not an expert, nor do I claim to be, and I hope you don't get the impression I am trying to be. As I find I share. That's it. I am just so weary from hearing people talk about getting a "government grant". I am tired of seeing the same purchase items trying to get so-called government grants. I hope this has shed a little light on how grants work, where to find the resources and what to do with what you discover.

Please locate the previous post written this month about Idilogic called "Free Grant Program". There you will find what you need to obtain the programs for your personal or professional use. I have a link on the right sidebar too, which is simply entitled Idilogic. Go to their site and find what you are seeking.

Blessings and prosperity to you,

Free Grant Program

In March I posted information about Idilogic and the grant money program (s) it provides– the Federal Money Retriever and Grant Gate. Since then a couple friends (who read this blog) asked me if I know how to apply for grants (!). I saw a need to re-write and re-post the Idilogic information for your understanding and assistance. I hope this post is clearer and more understandable.

GrantGate® is the first and only product on the market today that combines a database of thousands of grant giving foundations and charities with a grant Application Wizard. GrantGate® helps grant seekers." - By Idilogic

"Anyone who has a need

A Girl With an Apple

A Girl with an Apple

August 1942 Piotrkow, Poland The sky was gloomy that morning as we waited anxiously. All the men, women and children of Piotrkow's Jewish ghetto had been herded into a square. Word had gotten around that we were being moved. My father had only recently died from typhus, which had run rampant through the crowded ghetto. My greatest fear was that our family would be separated. 'Whatever you do,' Isidore, my eldest brother, whispered to me, ‘don’t tell them your age. Say you're sixteen'. I was tall for a boy of 11, so I could pull it off. That way I might be deemed valuable as a worker. An SS man approached me, boots clicking against the cobblestones. He looked me up and down, then asked my age.’ Sixteen,' I said. He directed me to the left, where my three brothers and other healthy young men already stood. My mother was motioned to the right with the other women, children, sick and elderly people. I whispered to Isidore, 'Why?' He didn't answer. I ran to Mama's side and said I wanted to stay with her.'No,' she said sternly. 'Get away. Don't be a nuisance. Go with your brothers.' She had never spoken so harshly before. But I understood: She was protecting me. She loved me so much that, just this once, she pretended not to. It was the last I ever saw of her.

My brothers and I were transported in a cattle car to Germany. We arrived at the Buchenwald concentration camp one night weeks later and were led into a crowded barrack. The next day, we were issued uniforms and identification numbers. 'Don't call me Herman anymore.' I said to my brothers. 'Call me 94983.' I was put to work in the camp's crematorium, loading the dead into a hand-cranked elevator. I, too, felt dead. Hardened, I had become a number. Soon, my brothers and I were sent to Schlieben, one of Buchenwald's sub-camps near Berlin. One morning I thought I heard my mother's voice... Son, she said softly but clearly, I am sending you an angel. Then I woke up. Just a dream. A beautiful dream. But in this place there could be no angels. There was only work. And hunger. And fear.

A couple of days later, I was walking around the camp, around the barracks, near the barbed-wire fence where the guards could not easily see. I was alone. On the other side of the fence, I spotted someone; a young girl with light, almost luminous curls. She was half-hidden behind a birch tree. I glanced around to make sure no one saw me. I called to her softly in German. 'Do you have something eat?' She didn't understand. I inched closer to the fence and repeated the question in Polish. She stepped forward. I was thin and gaunt, with rags wrapped around my feet, but the girl looked unafraid. In her eyes, I saw life. She pulled an apple from her woolen jacket and threw it over the fence. I grabbed the fruit and, as I started to run away, I heard her say faintly, 'I'll see you tomorrow.'

I returned to the same spot by the fence at the same time every day. She was always there with something for me to eat - a hunk of bread or, better yet, an apple. We didn't dare speak or linger. To be caught would mean death for us both. I didn't know anything about her, just a kind farm girl, except that she understood Polish. What was her name? Why was she risking her life for me? Hope was in such short supply, and this girl on the other side of the fence gave me some, as nourishing in its way as the bread and apples. Nearly seven months later, my brothers and I were crammed into a coal car and shipped to Theresienstadt camp in Czechoslovakia. 'Don't return,' I told the girl that day. 'We're leaving.' I turned toward the barracks and didn't look back, didn't even say good-bye to the girl whose name I'd never learned, the girl with the apples.

We were in Theresienstadt for three months. The war was winding down and Allied forces were closing in, yet my fate seemed sealed. On May 10, 1945, I was scheduled to die in the gas chamber at 10:00 AM. In the quiet of dawn, I tried to prepare myself. So many times death seemed ready to claim me, but somehow I'd survived. Now, it was over. I thought of my parents. At least, I thought, we will be reunited. At 8 A.M. there was a commotion. I heard shouts, and saw people running every which way through camp. I caught up with my brothers. Russian troops had liberated the camp! The gates swung open. Everyone was running, so I did too.

Amazingly, all of my brothers had survived; I'm not sure how. But I knew that the girl with the apples had been the key to my survival. In a place where evil seemed triumphant, one person's goodness had saved my life, had given me hope in a place where there was none. My mother had promised to send me an angel, and the angel had come.

Eventually I made my way to England where I was sponsored by a Jewish charity, put up in a hostel with other boys who had survived the Holocaust and trained in electronics. Then I came to America, where my brother Sam had already moved. I served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, and returned to New York City after two years. By August 1957 I'd opened my own electronics repair shop. I was starting to settle in. One day, my friend Sid who I knew from England called me. 'I've got a date. She's got a Polish friend. Let's double date.' A blind date? Nah, that wasn't for me. But Sid kept pestering me, and a few days later we headed up to the Bronx to pick up his date and her friend Roma. I had to admit, for a blind date this wasn't so bad. Roma was a nurse at a Bronx hospital. She was kind and smart. Beautiful, too, with swirling brown curls and green, almond-shaped eyes that sparkled with life.

The four of us drove out to Coney Island. Roma was easy to talk to, easy to be with. Turned out she was wary of blind dates too! We were both just doing our friends a favor. We took a stroll on the boardwalk, enjoying the salty Atlantic breeze, and then had dinner by the shore. I couldn't remember having a better time. We piled back into Sid's car, Roma and I sharing the backseat. As European Jews who had survived the war, we were aware that much had been left unsaid between us. She broached the subject, 'Where were you,' she asked softly, 'during the war?' 'The camps,' I said, the terrible memories still vivid, the irreparable loss. I had tried to forget. But you can never forget. She nodded. 'My family was hiding on a farm in Germany, not far from Berlin,' she told me. 'My father knew a priest, and he got us Aryan papers.' I imagined how she must have suffered too, fear, a constant companion. And yet here we were, both survivors, in a new world.'There was a camp next to the farm.' Roma continued. 'I saw a boy there and I would throw him apples every day.' What an amazing coincidence that she had helped some other boy. 'What did he look like?' I asked. 'He was tall. Skinny. Hungry. I must have seen him every day for six months.'

My heart was racing. I couldn't believe it. This couldn't be. 'Did he tell you one day not to come back because he was leaving Schlieben?' Roma looked at me in amazement. 'Yes,' That was me!" I was ready to burst with joy and awe, flooded with emotions. I couldn't believe it. My angel. 'I'm not letting you go.' I said to Roma. And in the back of the car on that blind date, I proposed to her. I didn't want to wait. 'You're crazy!' she said. But she invited me to meet her parents for Shabbat dinner the following week.

There was so much I looked forward to learning about Roma, but the most important things I always knew: her steadfastness, her goodness. For many months, in the worst of circumstances, she had come to the fence and given me hope. Now that I'd found her again, I could never let her go. That day, she said yes. And I kept my word. After nearly 50 years of marriage, two children and three grandchildren I have never let her go.

Let's Talk About ~Real Deals~

First, let's talk about the word “real”. To some this may sound trite - A Real Deal… maybe it sounds phony. But, that’s the last thing I want. No, when I say real, I mean just that. Not phony, not pretentious, not gimmicky, not a game, and certainly not unreal. Real means lots of things, but let’s take a look at what I want it to express for this blog. Okay?

Real means “true”, such as – what’s the real reason? Or it can mean actual, such as, ‘not merely so, but, an actual victory at a ball game.’ A real victory. Or how about this, real can mean – being an actual thing- not imaginary, not made up, not a falsehood, but on the contrary ~Real~. If you look up the word you will discover real means, not counterfeit, not an imitation; it means an authentic thing, such as ‘A real antique worth thousands of dollars, which isn’t found in a flea market’.

A ~Deal~ can be described as- to take action with respect to a person or thing, such as in law, to “deal” with lawbreakers. Or a deal is to conduct something fairly, such as ‘He deals fairly with his children.’ It can also be, to bring someone into an offering, apportion, like – ‘deal me in’. Or, in a traditional sense, a deal is simply a bargain that causes joy in the life of one who finds it – such as ‘I got 45% off my kids clothes while shopping for back to school. Now that’s a deal!’.

A deal is anything that is meaningful to the seeker of a service or a product. We are alive and we need “things”. Why not get “things” at a bargain price, or in a serendipitous fashion, by being given a chance for something that will make a life better. That’s what I mean by ~deal~.

The reason I am writing about "Real" and "Deal" is that I want readers to understand the title here and that it means what it says. I am a real live person, who has feelings, dreams, aspirations, and who hurts when I stump my toe, just like you do. And, I am not interested in giving you something that is a gimmick, or a trick with the purpose of having you purchase a product. No, I want to provide authentic resources that will help you become better in your business. Part of what makes me tick is giving, and I want to give as I learn, then tell you, hoping you will use these to bring positive change in your life.

If you don’t know this by reading the blog and what I post, then I'm not doing a very good job at explaining. I will strive to do better. But, bottom line, in this day when the economy is plummeting it would seem that a genuine caring person, such as myself, would want to be taken at face value, or in this case, at blog value. I want to give you real deals that will change your life. I am seeking these for myself, so I can make a difference in the lives of my family, the community and others who I find who may need a helping hand. That’s what I do. And that’s why this blog is called Real Deals to Change Lives. I hope so much that my humanity comes through somehow and reaches readers.

As far as introducing ideas to others through a blog? I think it is a wonderful way to do it. Why? Because you are in the privacy of your own space, investigating a business and learning about something that can really change your life. I'll continue to post free or nearly free things as I find them, that are real deals to may make your life easier, as well as change it for the better. Blessings and thanks for reading my blog!

Innovation - What is is?

Recently Charlie Rose had the guest, A. G. Lafley, CEO of Procter & Gamble (P&G). Following the show were several posts which called into question the lack of bio-degradable products, tax incentive for locating their new plant in Utah, and Mr. Rose dropping the ball by allowing these points to slide. While these are valid topics for discussion, the objective of the interview revolved around “marketing” and how “innovation” is used by P&G successfully. Charlie Rose clarified the purpose quickly with ‘So it is primarily about innovation’ and asked “What is Innovation?” If we can think along this premise as we watch, we may hear more about marketing innovation and gain valuable insight.

According to Wikipedia: “Innovation is typically understood as the successful introduction of something new and useful, for example introducing new methods, techniques, or practices or new or altered products and services.” Webster dictionary calls innovation “a new idea, method, or device.” A synonym may be novelty. Today the actual word ‘innovation’ is used to sell expensive cars, market high speed Internet, prompt consumers to use gadgets that are tricky to install, and so on. It signifies current development, but never goes out of style. P&G regards innovation as something else.

As business owners seeking deserved attention from would be buyers, we must find innovative ways to rise above the rest. To loosely quote Mr. Lafley, ‘Like it or not, this world is a smaller, flatter place, is less predictable, with bigger changes. Innovation has to play a role. We must become more agile, flexible, and more educated.’ Furthermore he adds, ‘In the end - you don’t have an innovation until she {or he} is willing to part with her {or his} hard earned cash for that new product or service.’ Please listen with the purpose of clarifying innovation for yourself, and how it fits into marketing your own business.

Just Imagine!

You're Not Going to Believe This!

I removed this video from my blogspot recently because the HTML in the video was messing with my visibility settings. I find this (video) to be a most profound expression of human creativity. For this reason, I want others to experience what I find so intriguing. I've provided a link at the bottom for you to click to go directly to the video. Also, the clickable title of this post will take you to the Artists Website for you to watch as she creates other works.

I love this expression of art in action so much I've posted it on my Aidpage Blog. I just want to inspire everyone with this piece! Everyday I look for something to give away that will encourage, inspire, motivate, or otherwise stimulate to a higher place of thought. Everything doesn't always have to be about business, work, tools, lessons learned, or assistance.

Sometimes we must stop to smell the roses! Please pause to enjoy this spellbinding performance after you turn up your sound... We've found a new artist to cherish!

I Wanna Give You Things to Use

Okay, I'm a new blogger, and share as I learn. The risk here is appearing dumb in a more and more informed world. But, because of my position on the principle Pay it Forward, I've decided to stay as transparent as possible.

In my opinion, there's too may people trying to be mentors (who actually think they are). Then there are those who are too embarrassed to admit they don't know something, and are afraid of people thinking they are stupid if they ask questions. And, no one wants others to think of them as stupid, including me. So, let's just say we are learning together. Okay?

Sometimes while pondering what to share I wonder if it's news, discoveries, recommendations, or just meaningful stuff I find interesting. Like this fun tidbit. Do you want to know what was happening on the day you were born? Get your very on Daily Times Newspaper written on your birthday! http://www.mydailytimes.com

And finally...

As you see, I've signed up for Googads on my blog. I like the way it makes my blog appear, and Google will pay me for using ads. As I learn, I give to you, remember? Ready to add these to your site? Just go to Google, create an adsense account and get to cracking. You may notice I don't have RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds here. Well little by little... Besides learning how to do these things, they take time to implement. I'll get around to RSS feeds soon. Now, you may be wondering exactly how to add RSS feeds? So, FYI, I've posted an instructional video to explain all about it.

As you see, I'm an unashamed novice. I like to write and give, so blogging is great for me. This is a real deal that's changing my life, and I'm learning everyday.
What I'm hoping for though is to tap into online newbie readers that will benefit by something shared here.

If you're a big time blogger you probably won't want to read much of this (I don't blame you :). If you do however, I wouldn't mind suggestions, head's up, resources to give to others, or a comment or two.
And who knows? Even old dogs may learn new tricks. You think?

Robotic Marketing & 'The Greening of America'

As anyone who reads this blog knows, it’s about helping others. Whatever I find that’s beneficial, I post. I’ve removed some things because technology has moved past these tools, or they turned out to be something I found useless. And I’m ever looking for solutions that are not on the beaten path necessarily. I don’t have to tell you about Internet phones, or automated email. You can simply find those kinds of things anywhere online. No, I’m after something else. Perhaps you could say I’m after the personal touch. The hope that what I share makes a difference. And today I want to vent some frustration. By doing this, perhaps you will understand how strongly I feel about helping people change their lives.

The Internet is synonymous with cutting edge technology, and that's how the big corporations are approaching the traffic led to their sites. And, encouraging every marketer on the planet to do the same. Whether with Adwords, SEO's, automated email, instant communication tools (I suppose so you can hurry up and answer a question, get a sign up, and move on to the next customer), or whatever form of reaching the most people the fastest, in the furtherest reaches of the universe. Yep, the big companies are all for the newest ways to make a buck, faster and faster. It feels like we're running in place in front of our computers. I envision the gofers with lasers on their rollers blades now days. And the clamor for attention is rising to a dull din.

Who are these “big” companies spurning on this faster and faster, better and better ways and means to generate a buck? They’re the same ones that thirty years ago were the young lions of their day… the revolutionary, the visionary, the flower power people who didn’t dig the commercialization or The Greening of America**. The same who have forged ahead and changed with the seasons, because after all, the times they are a changing… Indeed. Changing for what? Into what? Pretty soon we will have robots doing all our business for us. I suppose that will mean we can move even faster into other forms of generating leads.

Then there’s the Mentor movement happening out there again. They have The Best Arrangement. The Best Business. The Most to offer… so you too can become an instant millionaire (while making them instant billionaires, I suspect). Assistance is wonderful. But these mentors so called are alleging that they and they alone have the answers. If you do exactly what they say and how they say it you too will be successful like them. It looks like good old fashioned brain washing to me. And this kind of thinking goes to the philosophy that people are stupid. I myself think people are smart. And they are darn well smart enough to think for themselves.

I can’t help being cynical. I think how far and how fast we have moved, and how truly disconnected we have become. Disconnected should be the mantra today. Not make the customer happy. Not work hard to earn your cash. Not give back to help the greater good of our society. No, it’s moving faster – that disconnected mantra of get more, get it faster, and get by whatever means you can get it. It’s: Hurry~! Hurry~! Hurry~! And if you can, do it through your voice mail, fax, Skype conversation, automated conference (pre-recorded) the better, or whatever technological miracle machine you can use to get the business.

And, these things are great to use. They’re fun and interesting. And demonstrate the times in which we live. That’s good, really. But, what about making a friend or two? How about a trusted partner? Are there really organizations out there that want to help marketing business professionals succeed while using the personal touch? Do we have any patience anymore? Can we see something through to the end and be happy we worked hard and long on a project, without having to get instant gratification and move on even quicker to the next buyer of whatever we are selling? Doesn’t there need to be some kind of balance between technology and the human touch? I think so.

I love my computer too. But have found few people interested in stopping and talking to me on a one on one basis. And forget it if you have questions. The attitude is that there’s plenty out there to use to get answers on your own. Why bother with those who are not ‘with it’ enough to ‘keep up’. (‘However, for a cost of approximately $300.00 a month, we will be glad to let you in on our trade secrets and marketing strategies’).

The Old Fashioned Notions?
  • Be Available – I actually talk to people on the Phone!
  • Have Patience - Take time to Help People
  • Listen and be Willing to Learn- For goodness sake, you are not the guru of the universe Enough with the mentorship already
  • Respect Others - Realize everyone has something to contribute
  • Treat People Kindly - Allow people to express their emotions!

When I am frustrated, I cry! Or, when I am happy, I cry! – Its called being ‘Human’...Get Over it! The reason for writing this is because of actual experiences I have had in the last six or so months. I’ve spent hours listening to conference calls, talked to marketing professionals new and old, and have received numerous offers from automated email telling me I must do this or do that. I wonder sometimes, when is this trend going to end? I suppose that as a society we have forgotten that technology is a tool. It is Not The One controlling the show. We are human beings and need to remember that the people seeking to improve their lives, (you know- the one you blew off because they were too green, or too slow or too stupid – you know- the one you hung up on, or lied to about having a meeting to go to – that same one) are human beings too. Don’t we have any respect for that anymore?

About Idilogic for Free Grant Information

The Question of Business Grants

Lately I've talked to a couple people who are Entrepreneurs, or Business Owners that have established businesses. The conversation always ends up at the subject of money. Money is the matter. So, I need to make something clear. Grants can be accessed for free. Grants are for business, and do have a place when getting started in business, and growing business.

Although there are no Government Grants for business, as one quickly finds when visiting the Government's Small Business Administrations site, there are many private grants available for business owners. Now this is by no means a guarantee, mind you. I am just passing on information as I see it. If mistaken, please let me know and I will quickly adjust my thinking, and this post.

I am all about getting Real Deals information out there. How you use it is up to you. Idilogic has the same thinking, as for as I can tell. And if you are on Aidpage and don't know about Idilogic, it's time you did.

Well who is behind Idilogic, and what are they after? It is an organization, made up of the top two founders of Aidpage, and as far as I can tell, they are after the betterment of man kind. Purely and simply, they want you to have resources that will help you have a better life.

So to learn about Idilogic, who is behind it, the history of the organization, and how to access grants, go to the following... you will be happy you did.

Prosperity to you,

Never Let Anyone Steal Your Dreams

Dream Thieves
by Ed Reck

'If it was that easy, everyone would be doing it.'
'You can't start a business without a lot of money.' 'You need to find a steady job with benefits.'

"Have you ever heard any of those lines, or something like them? Those are the Dream Thieves trying to make off with your dreams. Who are the Dream Thieves you ask? Why, they are people who attack you when you become motivated to become something more than what you are. They tear down every reason you have to want to change, to progress, to move onto a higher plane. They are the people you work with, the person in the check out line in the grocery store, even some of the closest people you know like your own friends and family who try to talk you out of success.

It's not because they don't like you or because they don't love you. It sometimes is because they love you that they don't want to see you become successful. Not that they wouldn't like to see you succeed but because they don't want to see you get hurt if you fail. It's not easy to be successful, and failure is always tugging at your coattails. The people who love you the most can be the greatest Dream Thieves because they don't understand the relationship of success and failure.

There are other Dream Thieves who would steal your dreams out of their own selfish pity because they lack confidence in themselves and they're afraid you'll really make something of yourself. They'll tell you, you can't make it on your own and my even laugh at you for trying. They're really just lazy and don't want to leave their comfort zone because that would cause them to have to take their lives off of auto pilot and they'd actually have to think for a living. Therefore they become jealous and cynical out of fear that you will show them up. Even though 'showing them up', or hurting them, or anyone else for that matter is the farthest thing from your mind.

Then there are the worst Dream Thieves of all. These people are the ones who think they're better than you. I had a close friend who told me that I couldn't start my own business because I was too stupid. I thought to myself, 'What kind of friend would say something like that'? He would tell my other friends that I didn't have what it takes and I would never make anything of myself. Friends like him I didn't need, and you don't either. Avoid these people like the plague. It doesn't matter what you do, they will always put you down to make themselves feel better. I've gone on to build two successful businesses and all he can say is, I got lucky.

Don't let the Dream Thieves rob you of your dreams. You subscribed to this newsletter because you are unique. You have a spark in you that most people don't have. Take control of your future and grab an opportunity out of this newsletter and run with it. You can make it work. It may take some time, but you can do it. Just don't listen to the Dream Thieves."

"Never, ever, let anyone steal your dreams."
